Having lived in the home for nearly twenty years, these clients were ready to invest in a dramatic update to their longtime residence. Much of their affluent neighbourhood has already seen many large-scale renovations or new-builds to maintain and/or increase property value in the area and our clients were looking for something current but reflective of their own lifestyle. Richly cultured, yet practical, they wanted the home to have a canvas-like feeling that would exhibit all their family heirlooms, pieces collected through their travels and to essentially act as the functional backdrop for their busy and evolving lifestyle. Clean lines, openness, a neutral palette, and an emphasis on the existing architecture through lighting, colour and materials became the foundation of this overall design concept. The home required a transformation while maintaining character and substance, a home that could hold its own presence without embellishment and stand alone.
